The rise in global transportation poses major threats to the
environment with issues such as noise and pollution as a major
contributor to environmental damage.
It is
everyones responsibility to ensure a balanced approach is
taken to alleviate the damage caused by factors rising from
these transport systems without compromising on business standards.
Factors
to consider when reducing harm to the environment include
the following:
•
Ensuring all transportation departments comply with your Government
Environmental Policies.
•
Encouraging all companies dealing with transportation and
freight forwarding to set in place a working and achievable
Environmental Policy which is updated on a regular basis.
•
Improve the quality of life in towns and cities where air
pollution is a threat from air craft.
•
Loading cargo with consideration to space as a premium and
utilising where necessary.
•
Reducing carbon dioxide from transport where possible by using
reduced carbon dioxide fuel.
•
Using electricity supplied from sustainable sources to power
offices and machinery.
•
For all freight forwarding companies to obtain palettes and
packaging from sustainable sources.
•
WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) –
conscientious disposal of office equipment.
•
End-of-Life - The responsible disposal of vehicles when no
longer needed.
